Front Entryway Design St. Charles, IL
Our client contacted Prairie's Hardscape first in the mid summer time in regards to some help in maintaining their lawn and landscape. Many beds needed to be brought back into shape and our client just didn't know where to start.
We were originally just hired to start weekly mowing, string trimming and pruning all shrubs and small trees. After about a month of a maintenance plan, we spoke about possibly eliminating some dead growth in trees and shrubs and starting to address the "curb appeal" of the home. After addressing some outer perimeter beds and drainage issues, our client decided to take a look at the front entry way, porch and walkway to their home. They had originally put in a trellis that was going on at least 15 years and they felt the home needed a bit of a face lift.
After reviewing a few different plans, brick pavers and natural stone, Prairie's Hardscape was hired to install a beautiful Bluestone Natural Stone Front Entry Way using Eden/Fond du Lac natural stone for all vertical features including tapered pillars, front step's and wrapping the front porch with the bluestone applied in a veneer fashion as top dressing.
Low Voltage lighting, limestone Door County Outcropping/Boulders where then installed as the front retaining wall solution to maintain the proper grade on the front, west corner of the home which will be a perfectly balanced bedding for this springs entry way landscape and planting beds. After starting right before Thanksgiving, and being frozen out of the project twice, our crews kept returning when temperatures were high enough to install all materials in a quality fashion. After the majority of the front entryway was completed, together with our client we then started laying out ideas of replacing the rear outdoor living paver patios with the same Bluestone natural stone pavers. Currently, Prairie's Hardscape has been hired for, and we have completed, the front entry way, front retaining wall system, rear patio/outdoor living space #1 (grilling patio) and rear patio/outdoor living space #2 (mid-day entertainment area/picnic, eating area).
Right after all hardscape was complete, our client gave us the go ahead to replace the third and final "Fire Pit and Evening Time" patio retreat in the final phase of our hardscape project topping it off with a complete, all-encompassing landscape plan including ornamental trees, privacy trees, shrubs with spring, Summer and Fall interest as well perennials of their choice placed throughout all beds. The third and final hardscape and landscape phase is planned to start in Spring 2020 just as soon as the weather breaks.
